The All-New TriBridges Monthly – June Recap
Catching up on the moments, the milestones, and the mayhem of the season so far.
Race reports, picturesque portraits, and bikes on boats!?
A message from our Club Chairman, Marc Preece
Welcome to the inaugural edition of our monthly newsletter! As your chairman, I am thrilled to launch this platform that will celebrate the achievements, stories, and spirit of our incredible triathlon community.
The club has just this year marked its 5-year anniversary, and what our members have achieved over that time is truly remarkable—from new friendships formed, to first triathlons, duathlons and some who completed truly audacious physical challenges like Celtman or an Ironman—each and every one of you should be proud.
I’d also like to thank the committee and coaches, who behind the scenes are doing all they can for the betterment of the club. We have recently received feedback to tailor our swim sessions, where we have listened and made crucial changes to support our members—unfortunately this has not seen an increase in numbers and the club is losing money with swim pool charges and insufficient members attending. We will monitor this over the coming months and we do hope to see you back swimming.
This month we reflect on June 2025, where we had members racing internationally, locally and we held an adventurous club ride to the islands. We do plan to organise more of these in the future.
In this newsletter you will find links to inspiring stories from fellow members, updates on upcoming events, and tips to enhance your training. Our goal is to foster a sense of camaraderie and engagement among all members, encouraging everyone to share their experiences and achievements.
In order for everyone to relish the benefits of the club I encourage you all to actively participate and engage with fellow members, whether it's formal training or ad hoc training within the club—all will support your goals I am sure. Together, we can create a vibrant, thriving community that motivates and inspires each other to reach new heights.
For now, enjoy the summer month of July and any holidays you may have planned. Let’s make this journey unforgettable.
Now let’s be truly awesome…
Yours in Tri
– Marc, Club Chairman

One of the toughest and wildest triathlon races in the world didn’t disappoint—with 2 of our own showing true grit in the rugged landscape of Torridon taking on the full. A week later was the solo point five (Celtman's evil little brother). Read more below...
Ethan took on the full Celtman with a solid performance. A really strong swim and achieving multiple bike PBs, he battled the elements and came out smiling. A true test of endurance.
Wendy faced Torridon’s toughest test with immense strength. From loch to munro, she showed real heart across the full course.
The following week, Claire dominated the Solo Point Five course—first out the water, relentless on the bike, and bold on the run. Final time: 06:08:58.
TriBridges had a good presence at the 2025 Ironman European Champs, as three of our athletes went to Hamburg and raced amongst top competition.
Sub-10 in style! Marc smashed through in 09:54:53—a huge personal milestone backed by disciplined pacing and fearless determination and commitment in training. Well done coach!
Mark Adair pushed through prep challenges and delivered big on the day—earning PBs in both bike and run at Ironman Hamburg. A solid performance on the European stage.
Scott Hutchinson went deep into the hurt locker in Hamburg—completing the entire swim and bike, and running 32km before making the smart call to step off with just 10K to go. It was a tough day, but an even tougher decision made in the name of long-term health.
Massive respect, Scott 👏

Geoff’s back! After injury setbacks, he smashed Bolton 70.3, posting a speedy 32-min swim and finished in 05:39:54.
Shoutout to Leona, Colin, Chris, and Stephen. 👏 Special mention to Colin for 2nd place!
🏆 Have you raced or are you planning to this year?
Make sure you log your past results and future races here. This is what we’ll use for selecting 2025 award winners, so get those results in!
In June, a group of TriBridges members took their bikes over the water to ride around the Island of Arran. The route included steep climbs, coastal rollers, and plenty of banter. Spirits were high, legs were tested, and the scenery was unbeatable.
We’re already planning the next one—so if you missed out, keep your eyes on the next newsletter and WhatsApp comms!
Insights from Marc, Stevie, Chris, and Stuart
“Swimming isn’t just about fitness—it’s about technique. You can be the fittest athlete on the start line, but without efficient form, you’re working twice as hard for half the gain.”
Marc’s advice? Focus on body position, breathing, drills—and, most importantly, consistency week after week. The speed will follow. 🏊♂️

After having to step back from Lakesman due to circumstances beyond her control, Nicola has shown real determination by planning her own 70.3 event. She’d welcome anyone who wants to join for a swim, bike, run, or just to meet at the finish.
If you’re interested in taking part or want more details, see Nicola’s Facebook post.
